WORK WISE

WORK WISE is a service funded by Service Canada and Alberta Employment & Immigration, under the Targeted Initiative for Older Workers, and is administrated by Airdrie Employment Services for the residents of Airdrie, Alberta. The program is designed to assist older workers in identifying their skills, setting goals for their career developing and implementing job search skills and tactics and developing basic computer skills, which could make them more employable in the local area labour market.

To qualify for the program, you must meet the following criteria:

Aged 55-64 *

Unemployed or underemployed

A resident of Airdrie

Lack skills or need upgrading to be competitive in the local area labour market

Willing to commit to a full time program for six weeks

Service Activities could include the following:

Employability Assessments

Employment & Career Counselling

Skills Identification

Career Development/Job Search Workshops

Basic computer and Internet skills training

One-one assistance with job search activities

Some participants may also be eligible for:

Academic Upgrading

ESL

Short-term occupational training

Certification training such as WHMIS, First Aid, TDG, Forklift Certification

Full-time computer software training

Full-time occupational skills training
